Katy Perry has now sold more digital downloads than any other act.  The Recording Industry Association of America named the pop star their first "Top Certified Digital Artist," honoring her record-setting 72 million digital singles sold.

With just three albums out, Katy becomes the first artist ever to surpass 70-million in downloads.  As of this month, the singer sits comfortably at number one and 20-million downloads ahead of any other artist.

The RIAA presented Katy with a special plaque during a ceremony at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C., where she performed back-to-back concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

She's currently on the road promoting last year's Prism, and will continue the North American leg of her tour through October.
